Big wave inflation vest is usually worn over a wetsuit and/or impact vest, except for Patagonia's PSI (Personal Surf Inflation) vest. But now there is the UNvest by Bluesoup: it's the second inflation vest that goes underneath your wetsuit. These vests are super comfortable and sit right on your skin. The material is very similar to a rugby jersey, so it's tough and soft at the same time.
Why under your wetsuit?
Good question. Here's why:
1) It's less likely to come off.
2) Your wetsuit protects it from sharp objects that can puncture your vest.
What's under the hood?
Inside the UNvest is the bladder. This is the stuff that inflates and gets you back to the surface. Important stuff.
All the bladders inside every Bluesoup vest are made by Seasafe Systems. SeaSafe is a UK-based inflation vest manufacturer with 50 years of experience in building life vests. It's legit.
Available Colors
Bluesoup is the only surf inflation vest company that offers a fully custom design option. That's right. You can print anything on these outside layers. The printer is highly refined, so you can practically print your face on it:)
Custom designs come with an additional design fee, but they will give you a one-of-a-kind vest. This is relevant mainly for brands, surf schools, rescue teams, surf event organizers, or local surf teams/gangs:)
If you don't need a custom design, pick a standard color.
The UNvest by Bluesoup is available in a couple of different colors:
Black - with a little bit of cyan.
Navy - with some pink.
Grey - with a whiff of orange.

Pull to activate
Like all the other inflation vests for big wave surfers, the UNvest inflates by pulling an activation cord. The CO2 canisters in the vest will be punctured, force the air into the bladder of the vest... Boom! Instant inflation. Congratulations, you are now bobbing around like a cork.
Lock and load: 2 or 4 co2 canisters.
This inflation vest is available in two models:
Two pull: this version can only carry two co2 cartridges
Four pull: this vest can be loaded with four c02 canisters.
Please remember.. a good rule of thumb is to never use up all your cartridges in the water before you get back to the shore, boat, or jetski. If you still have one unused co2 cartridge, you'll have a backup if something goes wrong when you are trying to get back to shore. (Think sneaker set, broken board, snapped leash, long swims, exhaustion, etc., etc.)
Inflator size: 3/8”
Check your local co2 canisters provider before you order. Please get some high-quality canisters. Ideally, they are coastguard tested and approved. Those are made under very high standards. You can get cheaper co2 canisters in your bike shop. Those are produced in bulk in faraway factories where the rigorous testing required by the coastguard is not mandatory. This adds more risk than necessary because it increases the chance of one of the Co2 cartridges not working.

Blow to inflate
Like pretty much every other inflation vest (except Patagonia's Personal Surf Inflation Vest), these vests come with an inflation tube. This is great if you want to save your Co2 canisters and manage your buoyancy while paddling out or in the line-up.
Pull out the tab and inflate your vest by blowing into the tube. Easy does it. Use the deflation cord to let some of the air escape.

If you are wearing it under a wetsuit, measure the size of your chest.

Returns
Returns can be made within two weeks after delivery of the vest. The product needs to be in perfect condition, unused, and complete with all labels, instructions, and marketing materials.
You will be responsible for the shipping cost to return the vest and receive a new one.
We'll try to facilitate a return, refund, or exchange, but keep in mind that production time can be up to 6 weeks, excluding delivery times.

Co2 Cartridge for inflation vest for big wave surfing. The cartridge will rapidly inflate the vest when the surfers pull the inflation vest. This helps the surfer get back to the surface if something goes wrong underwater.
The 3/8” thread is the size that screws into the inflator head. (Check the size of your inflator!)
