The safest leash in the world.

(AND BADASS TO THE BONE.)

OMNA Tourniquet leashes are the only surfboard leashes in the world that come with a built-in, professional, 100% Marine-grade tourniquet.

Tough as nails, high-quality product that saves valuable time when you’ll need it most.

Build by a surfer and former U.S. Recon Marine: tested to last in the most badass conditions

Why do I need a tourniquet in my leash?

Fin cuts. Razor-sharp reef. Surfboards flying around. Shark attacks. Rock sandwiches. Surfers are at risk of getting cut open in the water. Although it’s rare, when you do find yourself bleeding out in the line-up, you need to act fast. Real fast.

You can bleed to death somewhere between 3-5 minutes.

That’s not a lot of time.

On top of that, once you’ve lost 20% of your blood, your body develops Hypovolemic shock. This is what usually kills you because your heart doesn’t have enough blood to pump to your body; your organs fail.

When that happens, it happens fast.

How fast can you improvise a tourniquet with your leash, rash guard, or tow-rope?

Will that stop the bleeding?

How long does that take to get it right?

How long will it take you to get back to the beach to get help?

Although improvised leashes have saved lives, the fail rate is high.

Why take the risk if a better product is available?

How it works

The tourniquet is integrated into the ankle cuff of the legrope, so you’ll always have it on you. Even if you pull the quick release pin on your big wave leash, the ankle cuff will still be on your leg, so you’ll always have the tourniquet within reach.

It is highly recommended to take tourniquet training so you know how to apply a tourniquet properly. Check this page on the OMNA website to find a tourniquet training.

The use is very simple and straightforward:

  1. Pull out the strap by the red tab

  2. Wrap it around the injured limb

  3. Click the ratchet to tighten the tourniquet

  4. Get help. Time to swim to shore, boat, jetski, heli.

The benefits of surfing with a tourniquet leash:

  1. Self-rescue. You can use it by yourself, save your own life. (Or someone else’s)

  2. Saves time saves lives: stop the bleeding immediately while you are still in the water. No time lost = higher survival rate.

  3. 100% Marine-grade = no rust or corrosion from salt water or sand.

  4. Includes a bite strap for more straightforward one-handed use. (You might have lost some fingers or even a whole hand.)

  5. It’s a Class 1 medical device. It’s more effective than a regular tourniquet because it’s built specifically for ocean use.

  6. Gradually increase/decrease pressure with the ratched. This is huge for medical personal who need to control the blood flow.

  7. Designed by surfers (owner is a former U.S. Recon Marine)

  8. Easy to operate, anyone can use it. (Taking a tourniquet training is highly recommended.)

  9. Hands-free exit. Once applied, the pressure is constant, so you can use both hands to get back to shore.

  10. Karma point: you’ll bring safety into the line-up for everyone around you.
